Supernova: The “Charon” Protocol is a vertical shooter with battles against flagships
The ship shoots itself, so you almost always dodge enemy bullets. The route goes from the Earth's orbit to a rift in the void and passes through 11 sectors. Each sector has its own sky, its own obstacles and its own waves of enemies. If after Star Wing you want a shooter with a campaign and a hangar between flights, here you can find both.
The flagship at the end of the sector
Each sector ends with a battle with the flagship, and this battle has several phases. Flagship turrets can be shot down one at a time, and with each turret shot down, the fire decreases. The game will forgive one mistake in this battle, but not the second.
Nine barrels and a hangar
There are nine types of weapons in the game: Pulse, Spread, Laser, Missiles, Plasma, Arc, Wave, Boomerang and Railgun. Any of them is strengthened directly in battle. For battles you receive credits, and between flights you spend them in the hangar. There are 6 hulls, drones, a bomb bay, an escort flight and 6 skins. For skill in battle, the game gives medals and orders, 20 in total.
The dense fire of enemies is familiar from Neon Space Shooter, but here there are two tools against it. Focus reduces the speed by half and shows the area where the bullets hit. The bomb clears the screen of enemy projectiles. The campaign can be completed on one of three difficulty levels or with two players at the same keyboard.
