Hexlands: automatic combat and map growth
In Hexlands, you explore the world while the hero cuts down trees, mines ore, and fights monsters. You buy new hexes one at a time and go to the Lost Crown. This is one of the strategies about expanding the map and collecting resources.
How to start expanding the map
- Leave the small village and enter the green meadow.
- Approach a tree, stone or monster so that the hero begins the action himself.
- Buy new hexes one at a time and open neighboring islands.
- Look for bridge guards and gates to open shortcuts.
How many islands are there and what changes the night?
The game has 13 islands and 500 hexes: from grassland and desert to swamp, jungle, volcano and frozen lands. There are 13 bridge guards behind the road, and gates open shortcuts between the islands. During the day the whole world is visible, but at night only a lantern provides light.
The weather also changes the route: there is rain, snow and volcanic ash. At night, monsters become bolder, so on distant islands the risk increases along with the prey.
Workshops, pets and leveling up
The sawmill, furnace, loom, smelter, mint, cutter, tannery and alchemist turn raw materials into planks, bricks, ingots and stones. In Alchemist you brew five potions, and at each level you choose one perk - familiar from Maktala.
The eggs produce pets: beaver, mole, fox, owl, turtle and drake, and each has its own job. The dungeons offer side rooms, a champion, and a chest, while the forge and shrine have permanent upgrades.
