Backgammon is a game played on a 24-point board, where everyone leads fifteen chips to their home. The dice decide how far you can move, but do not decide which piece to move. This is the whole point: the same numbers can be played in such a way that you win, or in such a way that you lose money.
A single chip is vulnerable
A chip standing alone at a point can be knocked out by an opponent and sent to the beginning. Two or more is already a block and cannot be broken through. Therefore, experienced players try not to leave singles in range, even if it costs tempo. Backgammon Duel shows this clearly: one careless move throws you back a third of the distance.
Long and short backgammon
Placement rules vary. In long games, all the chips are in one corner and go in a circle; you cannot knock them out. In short ones, they are placed around the board, and knocking out is the main technique. Short Backgammon keeps the short version, Sushi Backgammon - the same classic set of rules with a different design.
Against the computer and over the network
The computer calculates probabilities better than a human and rarely leaves vulnerable chips. A living opponent takes risks, bluffs and sometimes makes an exchange that the machine will not make. Backgammon Multiplayer brings players together online, Backgammon Online 3D adds a three-dimensional board with a top view.
