Forge of Empires city building, roads, and hex battles
In Forge of Empires, you place residences, production buildings, and roads, then grow a settlement from the Stone Age toward the future while turn-based fights play out on a hex grid. The era system is the hook: each research step opens new units, Wonders, and buildings, so every age changes how your city works.
This strategy and management game asks you to keep coins, goods, and happiness in balance. Homes raise population, workshops feed your economy, and roads must connect key buildings to the town hall or production slows down. That city-first pacing also recalls Elvenar, where building placement and resource flow shape long-term growth.
Combat leans on positioning rather than fast clicks. On the hex map, you move units carefully, pick the right fights, and use each turn to defend provinces or take new ground. That battlefield layer is close to Takeover, since both games reward smart troop placement and territory control.
You can play free online in your browser with no download, and it also runs on mobile and desktop. Use the advisor quests early for resources, then spend strategic points on other players’ Great Buildings when you want blueprints faster. Regular help to neighbors can also bring coins and a chance at rare items without spending resources.
If you want another city-building reference, The Mergest Kingdom shares the structure-and-expansion feel, though Forge of Empires stays focused on historical progression instead of merging.
