Hexanaut.io: hex-grid loops, trail cuts, and map control

Hexanaut.io puts you on a hexagonal board where you steer a snake, draw a line outside your own land, and close the loop to steal territory. The 3D look makes each route easy to read, but one exposed tail can turn a big grab into a fast loss.

It also works as a browser-based skills game, so you can test timing, route choice, and risk control without any download or signup. Because matches are short, you can switch from a cautious loop to a wider push in seconds.

The game fits the multiplayer side of .io play, and that matters because every live opponent can cut your trail while you are outside safe ground. Real bots are there too, so each match keeps pressure on your line and your escape route.

For a close mechanical match, Gulper.io uses the same snake movement and arena cutting, while Paper.io shares the territory-claiming loop on a different board. If you want another familiar challenge, slither.io also turns precise movement into a fight for survival.

Totems add the other half of the decision-making, with lasers for range, speed for escapes, grenades for disruption, and walls for blocking paths. Coins and chests unlock skins only, so the match balance stays about movement, timing, and clean territory grabs.

  • Mouse and clicks on desktop. Steering uses the mouse, left click speeds you up, and right click or Space activates a totem.
  • Swipe on mobile. The controls stay simple on smaller screens, and the game plays on mobile and desktop.
  • Think in small loops. Safer captures are easier to defend than huge, exposed runs.
  • Target the tail. Cutting an enemy line is often better than chasing their body.
