Overlord 1944: deception plans and the assault on Normandy
In Overlord 1944, you make allied decisions about the Normandy landings: deception plans, weather, bombing targets and the assault itself change the course of the campaign. This is one of the strategies where each order sets a new enemy response.
How to make the first order
- Choose an order for your allies, rather than waiting for an automatic move.
- On screens with resources, divide them between the desired goals.
- Look at the estimates of the enemy's strength, because there are no exact numbers.
Why does the German answer change?
The German command responds according to its doctrine, not according to a script; the same calculation of progress is needed in 1942 Pacific Front: here you also wait for the army’s response to your order. The top SITUATION panel shows progress, casualties, morale, supplies and intelligence. LOG saves every selection already made. This way you can check the progress of the campaign without guessing.
How many decisions and endings are there in the campaign?
The campaign has six acts, thirty-three resolutions, and five endings. You only see estimates of the enemy's strength, not exact numbers. An erroneous order does not close the move. It changes the next reaction and can lead to a different ending.
